Área metropolitana del sur del Valle y norte del Cauca AMVACA :definición, caracterización y propuestas de conformación
El presente trabajo reúne los elementos necesarios para concretar la conformación de una nueva división territorial, como es el área metropolitana, para el conjunto de municipios que, bajo la influencia de la ciudad de Cali, están inmersos en el proceso de metropolización. En él, se ha realizado una contundente investigación, en la cual, de una parte, se corrobora la existencia del fenómeno de metropolización, y de otra, se aporta una hoja de ruta con posibles procedimientos a seguir para constituir el área metropolitana de sur del Valle y norte del Cauca. Para delimitar tanto la región metropolitana como el área metropolitana propiamente dicha, el área objeto de estudio fue analizada sistémicamente y cada paso de ese análisis se soportó con el uso de los instrumentos técnicos más apropiados.
