Enriquécese la Biblioteca de la Universidad del Valle con el presente libro del profesor Santiago Sebastián sobre la arquitectura colonial en la ciudad de Popayán y en el Valle del Cauca. A su atractivo histórico y alta importancia académica el libro de Sebastián suma una perfecta armonía con los propósitos principales, aunque no exclusivos, de nuestra Biblioteca universitaria; destinada, por una parle, a restaurar obras de apreciable valía o de simple interés tradicional producida en esta zona de la nación, y después, por esta o aquellacausa, caídas en olvido o insuficientemente estudiadas; y por otra a estimular, mediante ediciones decorosas, la producción intelectual de nuestros escritores, pero sobre todo la que se refiera -como ocurre en las páginas siguientes- al análisis de nuestro medio.
