Ayacucho: la última batalla de la independencia americana
El 9 de diciembre de 1824 se libró la batalla más sangrienta de la guerra civil de independencia latinoamericana. Las tropas realistas, abandonadas de todo socorro y perdidos sus territorios, se enfrentaron, bajo el cerro Condorcunca, a un último combate con sus hermanos andinos y contra sus hermanos americanos. Por entonces, solo el Alto Perú y Chiloé permanecían afectos a la Corona española. La batalla cerró un conflicto que se había prolongado más de diez años, y que dejaba familias divididas y regiones enteras empobrecidas. El surgimiento de nuevas naciones trajo un resplandor de esperanza, aunque su luz surgió de la guerra más cruenta. España, tierra violentísima, resuelve los fratricidios con la desmemoria y la desmemoria teje nuevos fratricidios que vuelven a anidar en la desmemoria. También Ayacucho (‘rincón de muertos’, en quechua) pasó a poblar el olvido hispano y su recuerdo quedó encerrado en ese amplio ataúd que guarda la luenga memoria de los fracasos de esta nación.
