El valle geográfico del río Cauca, privilegiado por sus fuentes de agua, plantas y biodiversidad, ubicado en el suroccidente colombiano, ha sido escenario de la expansión del cultivo de la caña de azúcar, beneficiado por la combinación de factores históricos, económicos, técnicos, ecológicos y geográficos, pero con perjuicios en los ecosistemas y en la sociedad.
El objetivo de este libro es analizar las expresiones de acción colectiva ambiental llevadas a cabo por algunas comunidades asentadas en el valle geográfico del río Cauca para hacerle frente a los impactos producidos por la agroindustria de la caña de azúcar sobre sus territorios y ecosistemas
