Rafael Uribe Uribe
Nació en Valparaíso (Antioquia) en 1859 y murió asesinado en Bogotá el 15 de octubre de 1914. Realizó sus estudios en Derecho en la Universidad del Rosario. Fue periodista, militar, diplomático y congresista. Aunque se lo conoce en la historia como uno de los más grandes ideólogos del partido liberal y prolífico autor de innumerables estudios sobre temas económicos, políticos, sociales y culturales. Algunos de ellos versan sobre el café, el algodón, Panamá, el Liberalismo, la Paz, la Piedad, etc. Después de ser un liberal radical, impulsor de varias de las guerras de fines del siglo XIX, entre ellas la de los Mil Dias, pasó a convertirse en un decidido defensor de la paz y la reconciliación del país. Hijo de Tomás Uribe Toro y de María Luisa Uribe de Uribe, Rafael Uribe casó con la antioqueña Sixta Tulia Gaviria Sañudo y con ella tuvo seis hijos: María Luisa, Adelaida, Julián, Carlos Eduardo, Tulia e Inés.
