Un arquitecto hace rayas con su lápiz sobre la hoja en blanco, el campesino traza surcos con su arado sobre la tierra a cultivar, el pintor con su pincel va dejando huellas sobre el lienzo, mientras el escritor dibuja diminutos fragmentos de líneas oscuras sobre la superficie del papel. La línea es el gesto que emparenta todas estas prácticas y es el tema de investigación del presente trabajo.
Sólo cuando se traza la primera línea, el mundo se hace visible a los ojos del hombre. Las pinturas rupestres y parietales son anteriores al mundo y cuna de su percepción. Línea, límite y distancia constituyen el cuerpo argumental de Cartografías de la identidad, siguiendo las recomendaciones de Henri Matisse, quien insistía en que “hay que seguir siempre el deseo de la línea”.
