El P. Eduardo Tampe Maldonado S. J. ofrece en esta obra el fruto de un trabajo comenzado en 1996: Un catálogo de todos los jesuitas que hubo en el Chile colonial entre 1593, año de su llegada a estos Reinos, y 1767, cuando se ejecutó acá la Pragmática Sanción de Carlos III, que decretaba el extrañamiento de la Compañía de los territorios dependientes de la Corona española.
