La reflexión sobre la vida buena es uno de los grandes asuntos del pensamiento humano. Filósofos, escritores, artistas y pensadores de diferentes culturas y tradiciones lo han tratado desde distintas perspectivas, todos ellos preocupados por encontrar el significado de lo que los griegos denominaban eudaimonía, cuya traducción más adecuada al castellano sería vida lograda o vida buena, términos que se alejan de una concepción de la felicidad como simple hedonismo. Los textos seleccionados para esta antología ofrecen al lector un itinerario a través de ese debate secular, centrándose en la dimensión filosófica de eso que llamamos felicidad, pero sin olvidar su dimensión política. En la Ética nicomaquea afirmaba Aristóteles: Ser feliz es vivir y actuar. Se abría así un debate que en la actualidad adquiere nueva urgencia y precisa de nuevas nociones, enfrentados como estamos a una sociedad que nos prefiere eternamente insatisfechos.
