Crónica anónima de Enrique III de Castilla (1390-1391)
El Ms. II-755 de la Real Biblioteca reproduce los 28 capítulos iniciales (años 1390-1391) de una versión revisada de la <i>Crónica de Enrique III</i> del Canciller Ayala. Ese texto anónimo, copiado a finales del siglo XVI y conservado en el fondo del conde de Gondomar, de una notable calidad literaria y expositiva, no se limita a ampliar sistemáticamente el de Ayala, sino que denota una concepción de la historiografía que tiende a renovar los cánones de la Crónica real castellana. Además, sugiere que la <i>Crónica de Enrique III</i> tuvo un destino más allá de la redacción fragmentaria bajo la que se la conoce. En este volumen se ofrece una transcripción del texto, precedida por una descripción codicológica y filológica y seguida por un comentario histórico.
