Cuando muere uno de los padres del niño: estudios psicoanalíticos sobre el duelo en la infancia
Como trabajadora social docente de la Universidad del Valle me acerqué al campo de la Tanatología (estudios sobre la muerte y los procesos del morir y el duelo, desde las Ciencias Sociales y Humanas) y la asumí como área de investigación y de producción intelectual desde 1982. Mis principales motivaciones en el ámbito personal fueron entenderme en mi duelo por la muerte de uno de mis hermanos y poder ayudar a su viuda y a sus pequeños hijos; en cuanto a mi quehacer profesional, mi anhelo era poder aportar a los estudiantes de Trabajo Social, a quienes supervisaba en su trabajo de campo. Rescaté vivencias y recuerdos sobre mis pérdidas y las sucedidas en mi entorno desde mi niñez, lo cual me dio elementos para reflexionar sobre el manejo del duelo de cada doliente de acuerdo con su contexto personal, familiar y cultural.
