Por varios años, los autores se dedicaron a acompañar las experiencias de las mujeres peruanas que viven, transitan y trabajan entre las ciudades fronterizas de Arica (Chile) y Tacna (Perú). Con enorme generosidad, ellas les abrieron las puertas de sus casas y les contaron sus historias de vida, las de sus madres y las de sus abuelas. La narrativa de estas mujeres, el tiempo y las escenas que ellas compartieron, condujeron al tema central de este libro: la relación entre violencia de género, constitución de la agencia y el “ser femenino” de las mujeres migrantes que enfrentan (no siempre con éxito) las imposiciones del patriarcado en las fronteras del Estado-nación.
