En este libro se analiza y posiciona críticamente el campo de los estudios sobre familia en Chile desde la perspectiva de las transformaciones sociales, políticas y económicas que suceden en el país, con el propósito de delimitar los desafíos para la investigación actualizada sobre familia y parentesco desde enfoques críticos, reflexivos e interdisciplinarios. De este modo, se inicia un diálogo que contribuya a desenmascarar las desigualdades sociales que se producen y reproducen en los procesos de naturalización de las posiciones de género y parentesco al interior de las familias en el contexto chileno. Estudiar estas formas familiares diversas y, en el mejor de los casos, visibilizar estas múltiples elecciones y prácticas familiares es urgente para que sean acogidas por las políticas públicas.
