El archivo del Cabildo colonial: orígenes, funcionamiento y organización
Este libro conjuga una parte investigativa que orienta sus intereses hacia la historia archivística, con apartados que se dedican a la historia institucional, a la práctica paleográfica y diplomática, y a la organización de fondos documentales. Se presenta bajo un formato que al mismo tiempo es ejercicio académico y guía práctica para aquellos investigadores que se acerquen por primera vez al Archivo del Cabildo colonial que generalmente custodian los llamados actualmente “archivos históricos municipales”, y para los propios encargados de su gestión. Ambos, para la mejor comprensión de los registros que estos archivos conservan, no pueden excluir de sus saberes su contexto de creación institucional. La Paleografía, la Diplomática y la Archivística son tres ciencias documentales íntimamente ligadas a la Historia que se dan cita aquí para intentar entender mejor y de manera didáctica el funcionamiento del Archivo de las ciudades coloniales, el lugar institucional donde se custodiaba la documentación producida y recibida en el ejercicio de sus funciones por el Cabildo, Justicia y Regimiento.
