Afirmar que la fraternidad ha sido históricamente la gran olvidada de la tríada revolucionaria francesa no pasa de ser una constatación obvia. Pero sostener, a partir de esto, que el lugar que antaño ocupaba aquella noble categoría lo ocupa ahora la solidaridad constituye una severa confusión conceptual (se trata de conceptos con determinaciones diferentes). De la misma manera que nada más alejado del espíritu de la fraternidad que contentarse con la generalización de determinados afectos, como hace un cierto fraternalismo light (más próximo al insustancial todo el mundo es bueno que al valor republicano en sentido propio).
