Rother, el riquísimo ambiente cultural de la Alemania socialdemócrata y de la Europa de entreguerras y la influencia poderosa que sobre su sensibilidad ejercieron el paisaje y el clima de nuestro trópico. El autor sugiere cómo la personalidad sobria y generosa de Rother y las difíciles circunstancias de su vida como expatriado influyeron en la creación de la magnífica arquitectura que legó a nuestro país.
