El lector de El Nublador y otros cuentos encontrará en él historias que no buscan reflejar la realidad, al menos una realidad, al menos una realidad factual comprobable por los sentidos. Al contrario, los hechos allí narrados (por un narrador transtemporal) son resultado de un ejercicio de ficción: una realidad inexistente antes de ser contada. Se encuentran en él conjuros contra la sequía y concitadores de lluvias, historias apócrifas de la historieta gráfica de Tintín, muertos que siguen vivos, matrimonios que habitan en la luna por siglos, historias de cicatrices, de enfermedades de la piel, de canibalismo. Acudiendo a la ironía, la imaginación, el humor, un paródico tono doctoral y las estructuras narrativas experimentales cruzadas por falsos acentos académicos, su autor, aunque se trata de historias acontecidas en mundos ficticios, quiere dar la impresión, con un acento juguetón y como si le tomara el pelo al lector, de que se trata del mundo real.
