Raramente, como aquí, la tortura ha sido estudiada desde un punto de vista sociopolítico y no solo psíquico. Sin embargo, aunque es posible extraer las lógicas del sistema torturador, de comprender lo que está en juego, quedan algunas preguntas pendientes: ¿es realmente posible librarse de sus efectos?, ¿cómo altera la tortura al ser que la ha sufrido?Son estos interrogantes los que Muriel Montagut intenta responder al reunirse, años después de finalizado el acompañamiento terapéutico, con antiguos pacientes víctimas de torturas. Había dejado hombres y mujeres llenos de esperanza, abiertos al futuro, y los encontró en medio de una lucha cotidiana, siempre presas del sistema torturador. Innegablemente para ellos, la lucha contra su influencia se apaciguó con el tiempo, pero los dejó marcados indefinidamente con el sello de la intranquilidad.
