Siempre nos hemos interesado por la arquitectura que hacemos los humanos, porque la tenemos presente en nuestro día a día, la consideramos necesaria para nuestra protección y el desarrollo de nuestras actividades, y en muchos casos le atribuimos un gran valor técnico y artístico. Creemos que el hombre es el único arquitecto en este mundo y no apreciamos construcciones fantásticas que nos rodean, elaboradas por las otras especies animales que comparten involuntariamente con nosotros nuestro planeta. Arquitecturas que con frecuencia pueden, de acuerdo con nuestros parámetros, mostrar una alta calidad estética y constructiva.
Este texto es el resultado de la curiosidad del autor, como arquitecto humano, por la arquitectura y el urbanismo animales, y su relación con la arquitectura y el urbanismo humanos. El escrito no parte de ninguna premisa ni propone una hipótesis científica, para tratar de demostrarla. Solamente pretende despertar el interés de los lectores por el fabuloso mundo de las construcciones animales.
