Historia de la Iglesia Católica en el Valle del Cauca (1927-1985)
Son muchos los vacíos historiográficos que hay respecto al estudio del fenómeno religioso y de las dinámicas y accionares históricos de la Iglesia Católica en la historia de Colombia en el siglo XX. El vacío es persistente si de hecho hablamos del Valle del Cauca. Negar que el caminar de la Iglesia Católica no ha permeado el devenir histórico de nuestro departamento, es restringir su labor y acción cultural, educativa y política. Un hallazgo generalizado en la mayor parte de los estudios sobre la Iglesia Católica es que presentan visiones sesgadas sobre ella. Por tanto, aún hay mucho por hacer y por decir en esta área de estudios, razón que impele a la Historia como disciplina científica e investigativa a acercarse al estudio de la fe, las creencias, los actores y le dé un nuevo aire a las disertaciones sobre esta institución superando las apologías y las politizaciones de muchos trabajos. Por lo menos tal ejercicio intenta evidenciarse en el presente texto.
