Las hidroeléctricas y sociedad chilena: del imaginario de la modernidad a la resistencia ambientalista (1897-2023)
Considerando la planificación, construcción y puesta en marcha de tres grandes centrales –Rapel, Colbún y Pangue-Ralco–, el presente libro analiza las representaciones sociales existentes en torno a la hidroelectricidad en Chile. Así, se postula que ha existido un sostenido tránsito desde un imaginario asociado a la modernidad tecnocrática, bajo las consignas del desarrollo y el progreso, hacia una resistencia anclada en el movimiento ambientalista, en el marco de la articulación de nuevos movimientos sociales en Chile y en el mundo. Lectura imprescindible para las discusiones en torno a la ecología, el cambio climático, la justicia ambiental y la alteración de los ecosistemas en contraposición a las crecientes demandas energéticas de la población.
