El libro que aquí se presenta a la comunidad educativa da cuenta del compromiso de la Universidad Autónoma de Manizales en lo que concierne a aminorar las distancias que impone la geografía como un obstáculo para llegar a las regiones más apartadas de Colombia. El desafío es construir puentes para vincular a las personas al sistema educativo y favorecer la disminución de la brecha social. Ello, de tal manera que sea posible superar las barreras geográficas, tecnológicas, financieras, personales o académicas asociadas a la baja accesibilidad y a la permanencia de los estudiantes en el sistema educativo.
