Momentos críticos ofrece una actualizada aproximación crítico-teórica, de carácter transdisciplinario, al estudio de la cultura latinoamericana, entendida como un campo de lucha por el poder representacional y como espacio simbólico para la expresión de subjetividades colectivas. A través de estudios de variados registros se exploran los temas del poder; la producción simbólica; las articulaciones de clase, raza y género; el lugar de las humanidades y el papel de los intelectuales en el contexto de la globalización. Para ello, se analizan las relaciones entre lo local, lo nacional, lo regional y lo global, y se intenta un acercamiento a los temas de la agencia política, las relaciones entre realidad y ficción, y los vínculos entre memoria, acción social e imaginación histórica. Asimismo, Momentos críticos problematiza el campo de los estudios culturales, discute sus aportes, limitaciones y perspectivas.
