Este libro es el resultado de una investigación sobre la oralidad y su integración a los procesos de reconocimiento de minorías y proyectos educativos. Sus diferentes capítulos abordan problemáticas particulares de las culturas orales: el vallenato, el mito, el relato-leyenda, el canon de la oralidad, las instituciones que desconocen la oralidad. Está dirigido a profesores de la educación media y secundaria, pues su objetivo principal es defender la idea de que, según los principios de reconocimiento expresados en la Constitución de 1991, la oralidad cultural expresa la diversidad cultural de Colombia y esta realidad de nuestra cultura debe ser integrada a los procesos de formación en todos los niveles en el país.
