Este libro, motivado por la apuesta política feminista de su autora, presenta una investigación histórica que analiza, desde una perspectiva de género, los discursos y prácticas judiciales, legales y médicas en torno a la violación de mujeres (niñas y adolescentes) en Colombia, entre 1936 y 1960. Mediante el uso de diversas fuentes primarias, especialmente expedientes judiciales, el texto revela las relaciones de poder que atraviesan el concepto y la práctica de la violación. Así, deja en evidencia cómo las instituciones encargadas de investigar este delito perpetuaron y reprodujeron los roles de género, al justificar y normalizar la violencia sexual. Este análisis no solo proporciona un entendimiento profundo de la violación en el periodo estudiado, sino que aporta herramientas conceptuales valiosas para examinar la violencia sexual en contextos contemporáneos y lo inserta en un campo novedoso de investigación. En últimas, es una reflexión historiográfica que tiene un impacto significativo en la comprensión de las relaciones históricas de poder y la construcción social de este tipo de violencia.
