Esta obra es el resultado de un proceso de acompañamiento mediado e investigación pionera en el Caribe que explora las perspectivas de enseñanza y las creencias epistemológicas que un grupo de maestros de 11 instituciones públicas del Atlántico tiene sobre la naturaleza de las matemáticas, su aprendizaje y enseñanza durante los primeros grados escolares. Mediante una serie de instrumentos estadísticos y análisis realizados por investigadores de la División de Ciencias Básicas de la Universidad del Norte y del Grupo de Investigación DeNovo de la Fundación Promigas, el texto busca presentar las principales decisiones y acciones que toman los docentes cuando imparten sus conocimientos matemáticos en el aula de clase.
