La temática sobre los adolescentes siempre fue compleja y turbadora, y esta valoración se acentúa cuando se estudian sus conductas de riesgo. Durante la última década, la preocupación por el incremento de adolescentes considerados “en riesgo” convirtió a esta franja etaria en el área prioritaria de numerosos estudios e investigaciones.
En esta obra se contextualiza, en el marco de la modernidad-posmodernidad, a la adolescencia desde un enfoque histórico y socio-cultural. El desarrollo teórico sobre la percepción del riesgo –palabra muy utilizada en salud y por eso mismo de difícil aprehensión–en adolescentes ocupa un lugar central. Debido a que no solo se desarrolla la percepción del riesgo sino también la del autocontrol, la autora profundiza acerca de los modelos teóricos sobre el concepto de control, y las investigaciones y técnicas de evaluación psicológica del autocontrol.
