Este breve texto se propone sacar a la luz muchas de las tramas que rodean a un nacionalismo de Estado, el español, que pareciera no existir. Al respecto sopesa, por lo pronto, los numerosos elementos de comunidad que existen entre las corrientes esencialistas y pragmáticas, y entre las ultramontanas y las liberales, de ese nacionalismo. Analiza, por otro lado, una trama institucional, y constitucional, que defiende las esencias patrias y, con ellas, la integridad territorial y una soberanía que se entiende indivisible. Presta atención, en fin, a las numerosas tramas históricas, económicas, lingüísticas de un nacionalismo interesadamente agazapado en el aparato del Estado.
