Suenan tambores es el sexto volumen de la Biblioteca Afrocolombiana de las Ciencias Sociales. Es una antología de letras poéticas que tiende puentes entre el Caribe y el Pacífico, donde la palabra se convierte en resistencia y esperanza, frente a los problemas socioeconómicos de los pobladores asentados en el mar, el río y la selva; y aunque la poesía no es una ciencia social, uno de los objetivos del proyecto también era escuchar en los ecos de los artistas un aliciente de efluvios de bellezas, pero también de pensamientos críticos y disidencia frente al Estado y sus instituciones que han marginado y sumido en la miseria a las poblaciones afrocolombianas.
