A mediados de la década de los noventa del siglo pasado asistimos en España a la visibilización de las víctimas del terror que adquieren un gran protagonismo social. En este contexto se cuestiona duramente a la sociedad vasco-navarra en su conjunto y también, específicamente, a la Iglesia católica incardinada en sus territorios. Destacan una falta de empatía, de afecto y de cercanía hacia las víctimas y se denuncia el silencio de la institución eclesial. En este sentido, ¿cuál ha sido la actitud de la Iglesia respecto a las víctimas del terrorismo? ¿Las ha abandonado a su suerte? ¿Se ha acercado a ellas solamente cuando han adquirido relevancia social? ¿Tal vez ha actuado eficaz pero discretamente en su favor y no se conoce públicamente esta actitud? Este libro tratará de responder a estos interrogantes sabiendo la gran complejidad del sujeto eclesial que hace que las críticas y las controversias también se reproduzcan en el seno de la comunidad cristiana.
