Sinopsis
El colonialismo español en el Sahara Occidental fue en gran medida un producto de la dictadura franquista. El libro recapitula el final de la presencia española en 1975 y en los primeros meses de 1976, ligando la descomposición y el final del Régimen, las interferencias externas, la emergencia de las reivindicaciones independentistas, hasta el abandono de la colonia y de las responsabilidades de descolonización de España ante Naciones Unidas. El colonialismo español en el Sahara no fue “inocuo y benigno”, como se suele presentar; en ese territorio hubo dominación por medios militares, explotación, represión, discriminación y racismo. El colonialismo fue otra de las dimensiones de la dictadura, y el abandono ejecutado por el gobierno de Arias Navarro, sometiéndose a las lógicas geopolíticas imperialistas e intentando preservar intereses económicos, fue la última expresión colonial de la dictadura. El Sahara Occidental sigue, hoy en día, siendo la colonia (territorio no autónomo según Naciones Unidas) más extensa y poblada pendiente de su autodeterminación.
