Sinopsis
Una ciudad sustentable debe proporcionar un medio construido que promueva el bienestar y la productividad de sus habitantes. Las personas mayores, en particular, requieren entornos de vida facilitadores y de apoyo para compensar los cambios físicos y sociales asociados al envejecimiento.
La Red Mundial de Ciudades Amigables con las Personas Mayores es un proyecto puesto en marcha por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (oms) en el marco del XVIII Congreso Mundial de la Asociación Internacional de Gerontología y Geriatría celebrado en Río de Janeiro (Brasil) en junio de 2005.
En la actualidad, es un proyecto abierto del que forman parte varias ciudades del mundo. La acción principal para formar parte del proyecto consiste en la realización de grupos focales en los que se entrevista a las personas mayores con el fin de que identifiquen los aspectos positivos y negativos de su ciudad, y con base en los resultados presentar un plan de acción.
Este libro presenta los resultados del estudio que tuvo como propósito elaborar propuestas, con base en el conocimiento de la imagen y la vivencia de la ciudad por parte de las personas mayores, en términos de proyectos y acciones que conduzcan a que la ciudad de Aguascalientes sea considerada como una ciudad amigable con las personas mayores.
