El libro es la síntesis de los resultados obtenidos en la investigación conjunta de un grupo de investigadores de la Cátedra de psicopedagogía Clínica de la universidad de Buenos Aires y profesores e investigadores de la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad de Brasilia. Los diferentes capítulos tienen en común el análisis de las características sobresalientes del aprendizaje escolar en el cual lo subjetivo, tanto en su dimensión individual como en la social, ocupa un lugar central para la comprensión del proceso de simbolización de niños y adolescentes contemporáneos.
