Sinopsis
Diálogos de fraternidad entre periodistas españoles en México y diplomáticos mexicanos en revistas de España, se reúnen en estas siete investigaciones que tienen como eje los periódicos, a través de los cuales es posible documentar los afanes de Anselmo de la Portilla por contribuir con la Legación peninsular a estrechar relaciones con el gobierno mexicano; el uso que el pintor José Escudero y Espronceda realizó de las columnas periodísticas para ofertar sus servicios, son soslayar su estrategia de exhibir pinturas que representaban a personajes importantes para ambos países en las fiestas septembrinas; los intereses que unieron al mallorquín José Barbier con escritores mexicanos entorno al cooperativismo; la colaboración del granadino Ramón Elices Montes con Telésforo García en la redacción del órgano de información del Casino Español a través del que defendió el nombre de España; la reconstrucción de la biografía de Enrique Muñiz, redactor de un periódico favorable a la Legación Española, pero puesto a los empresarios peninsulares y cuyos enfrentamientos con Ignacio Manuel Altamirano provocaron su salida de México; y el rescate del diario personal de José Pría, enviado de Excélsior a los Juegos Olímpicos de 1936, cuya narración describe el inicio de la Guerra Civil Española, así como momentos de la vida mexicana a través de su mirada, constituyen una rica, intensa y novedosa contribución al estudio y reflexión del periodismo español y mexicano entre los años 1840-1974.
