Sinopsis
La comprensión, por parte de los estudiantes de Criminología, de la utilidad de la investigación social en su futuro desempeño profesional, pasa por la asimilación de la oportunidad y las potencialidades de los métodos y técnicas de investigación social para abordar diferentes preguntas relacionadas con el delito, la victimización, la seguridad/inseguridad y cómo estos aspectos interactúan con dimensiones de la estructura social, tales como el poder, la desigualdad y diversas variables sociodemográficas. ¿Hay patrones de victimización en la sociedad? ¿Cómo se distribuyen geográfica y socialmente? ¿Existe discriminación de género en el ámbito penitenciario?
Para poder guiar a los futuros criminólogos en el mundo de la investigación social aplicada, hemos decidido proponer un texto útil, didáctico y, especialmente, aplicado, cargado de ejemplos y referencias a diversas investigaciones sociales clásicas y más recientes en el ámbito de la Criminología social. Se trata de orientar a los lectores en la búsqueda de temas de investigación y en las estrategias de abordaje más exitosas, tanto cuantitativas como cualitativas o mixtas.
