En este texto el autor se propone analizar cómo la reflexión contemporánea acerca de la comunidad, tal como ha sido esbozada por filósofos como Nancy, Esposito y Blanchot, permite aproximarse, de una manera novedosa, al pensamiento político de Hegel en la Fenomenología del espíritu. En lugar de tomar posición acerca del presunto talante totalitario de Hegel o de sus aportes a un pensamiento comunitario o de la intersubjetividad, el autor ofrece una relectura de Hegel que lo abre y lo expone a los problemas y las preguntas que han surgido en las tres últimas décadas con ocasión de los episodios masivos de destrucción que tuvieron lugar en el siglo XX, y que todavía siguen ocurriendo hoy en día, en nombre de la comunidad. El pensamiento de Hegel esbozado en esta interpretación también puede dar luces para comprender mejor por qué la modernidad cayó en tales excesos, contribuyendo así a los debates actuales en torno a la cuestión de la comunidad.
