Sinopsis
Esta obra presenta un estudio sobre la etapa de fundación del periódico El Correo Español, particularmente durante los diez años en que fue editado y dirigido por Fernando Luis Juliet de Elizalde. Asimismo, expone datos inéditos en torno al periódico de la comunidad española en México, el cual constituye una pieza central de la prensa españolista, poco conocida en la historiografía sobre la prensa mexicana decimonónica. La obra contextualiza la prensa española durante el porfiriato y se enfoca en la estructura editorial del diario, así como en la figura de su editor fundador, que permiten reconstruir motivaciones, interrelaciones y redes periodísticas. También describe las condiciones materiales de producción de este medio y su diseño tipográfico, un aspecto raramente tomado en cuenta en los estudios sobre la prensa e incluye, por último, una revisión de la literatura española y mexicana finisecular publicada en sus páginas
