Sinopsis
Son escasos los estudios sobre la alteridad en las letras mexicanas y aún más en el terreno de la dramaturgia novohispana. El presente trabajo revisael trato de la figura del indígena como otro en esta etapa del teatro mexicano y ofrece un panorama de su recurrente presencia en la historia de este género en México.Abordamos obras poco tratadas, desde la llamada primera obra americana producida por un criollo, Coloquio de la nueva conversión y bautismo de los cuatro últimos reyes de Tlaxcalade Gutiérrez de Luna, hasta los dramas indígenas de principios del siglo xix, sin olvidar a clásicos del periodo, como Juan Ruiz de Alarcón y Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, con su visión crítica de la Conquista.
