Sinopsis
Estudio de carácter histórico, durante el periodo comprendido de 1832 a 1925, acerca de la enseñanza del dibujo en la ciudad de Aguascalientes. La Academia de Dibujo fue el establecimiento que formó tanto artistas como artesanos y que se rigió bajo los principios del academicismo (racionalistas e ilustrados) dictados por la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes de la capital del país, antes Academia de San Carlos. En Aguascalientes recibieron las bases de su futura trayectoria, directa o indirectamente, artistas de la talla de José Guadalupe Posada, Jesús F. Contreras, Saturnino Herrán, Gerardo Murillo (alias Dr. Atl), Francisco Díaz de León, Guillermo Ruiz y muchos otros, en campos tan diversos como el grabado, la escultura y la pintura.
La investigación esclarece antecedentes europeos, identifica los métodos de enseñanza y las condiciones materiales y pedagógicas; capta, además, los giros y enfoques que cada director le imprimió durante su gestión de acuerdo a las ideas de progreso, ilustración y modernidad prevalecientes en los diferentes momentos históricos. La enseñanza del dibujo se diversificó en varias instituciones, principalmente públicas, pues era considerada una obligación del Estado, aunque también en las privadas.
