Sinopsis
Confluyen en este libro cinco autores fundamentales de la literatura hispánica: Fernando de Rojas, Ignacio M. Altamirano, Benito Pérez Galdós, José Revueltas y Jaime Gil de Biedma. De sus obras rescata Francisco Ramírez Santacruz algunos de los temas más apasionantes como la reeducación sentimental del pueblo de México en el caso de Altamirano, o la función de la voz en Revueltas. Asimismo, el autor se pregunta por qué, siendo La Celestina la creación literaria española más profunda e intensa después del Quijote, no ha tenido la misma acogida que el texto cervantino entre los lectores de otras culturas y desarrolla, en consecuencia, una novedosa propuesta de enseñanza de dicha obra para los estudiantes de español como segunda lengua. Acompaña, finalmente, a los estudios literarios, uno sobre el EZLN y la cuestión indígena en Chiapas que pone de manifiesto la actualidad de un tema al parecer olvidado en la discusión nacional.
