El contenido de este libro recoge los elementos o escenarios que forman parte del entorno social y cultural que nos rodea desde el mismo momento en que nacemos. Se parte de cuestiones teóricas y básicas para su comprensión, como el concepto de entorno social y cultural en Educación Infantil y los primeros agentes socializadores (como son la familia o la escuela), para avanzar en temas de diversidad afectivo-sexual y, a partir de ahí, adentrarse en cuestiones cotidianas como el espacio y el tiempo, la actividad humana en el entorno o la escuela como espacio de resolución de conflictos. Finalmente, se hace un recorrido por otros elementos con un carácter más innovador que forman parte de ese entorno en el que nos desenvolvemos desde que damos nuestros primeros pasos, pero que no es tan habitual su programación en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje infantil, como el acercamiento a la arquitectura, al cine, a los cuentos o al patrimonio monumental o arqueológico. El libro se estructura en tres bloques temáticos compuestos por cinco capítulos cada uno de ellos: fundamentación teórica, el entorno social y cultural y su aplicación en el aula, y recursos en educación infantil
