También se tratan su faceta de novelista y la relación entre antropología y literatura como modo de expresión de la experiencia. El libro está organizado en cinco capítulos que abordan las principales preocupaciones de Paul Stoller y su visión sobre la antropología actual, no de manera cronológica, sino de forma temática, desde las principales e influencias, hasta su contribución al giro posmoderno en la antropología estadounidense y su distanciamiento con dicho movimiento.
