La familia es una Metáfora frecuente y duradera para definir las relaciones de una colectividad a su territorio: la nación, pero no es un tropo sencillo ni tan obvio. Depende de cómo se define la ciudadanía, por ejemplo: ¿es una relación cívica, con derechos y obligaciones particulares? ¿Es una relación de etnicidad, de cultura compartida? ¿Es una relación elegida, como las familias que formamos como adultos, o unas relaciones regidas por la sangre o el nacimiento, que podemos afirmar o de las cuales podemos querer separarnos? ¿Cómo ha cambiado esta figura con el tiempo y qué pasa con la metáfora y con la nación misma cuando entran nuevos grupos y fronteras sociales en el espacio nacional? Todas estas cuestiones están al acecho en este estudio de Adriana Tolentino que examina la orfandad, la marginalidad y las afiliaciones distintas que se representan en el cine y la literatura posmoderna de México
