Chávez, Antonio Caso, José Vasconcelos, Samuel Ramos y Leopoldo Zea, pensadores mexicanos representativos del siglo XX, son analizados en esta obra desde una metodología disciplinaria e interdisciplinaria, cuyo eje principal es la historia de las ideas y la filosofía latinoamericana en nuestra América. En ese sentido, el autor se detiene acuciosamente en las ideas, posiciones, inquietudes y reflexiones que tuvo cada una de estas figuras señeras en relación con la historia, la filosofía y la cultura, tanto de México como de Latinoamérica. La investigación, apoyada en los trabajos de Mauricio Beuchot sobre la hermenéutica analógica simbólica desde el diálogo horizontal dialécticamente constituido, ofrece al lector una mirada sobre la realidad histórica y social latinoamericana, campo fértil para una forma de filosofar y de hacer filosofía situada, pues allí es donde se encuentra la universalidad de la filosofía.
