Este libro analiza las formas de participación ciudadana que se han establecido en diferentes lugares y épocas; parte desde sociedades avanzadas pero arcaicas, como Grecia y Roma, hasta llegar al contexto latinoamericano actual. En él se revisan aspectos históricos, legales y sociales de figuras como el referéndum, el plebiscito, la iniciativa popular y la revocación de mandato, con especial énfasis en el primero como modelo de participación ciudadana comprometida.
