La Micro, Pequeña y Mediana Empresa (MiPyME) a pesar de su alta contribución en la economía, no han alcanzado el nivel de competitividad suficiente para poder posicionarse en el mercado global, ni para integrarse plenamente como proveedores de los grandes consorcios. Estas organizaciones se ven altamente vulnerables en la permanencia dentro de sus respectivos mercados, ante la llegada de las grandes empresas que ha traído consigo la apertura de los mercados internacionales.
El interés acerca del tema objeto de estudio, tanto en el ámbito internacional como en el contexto mexicano, junto con la escasez de información nacional y regional sobre el tema, hace relevante y oportuna esta obra. Es oportuna porque proporciona información reciente que podría ayudar a los directores, gerentes y/o propietarios, para que conozcan los factores económicos, financieros y de gestión, a fin de que sus empresas sean más competitivas. También es útil a las instancias gubernamentales que coordinan a las MiPyME, para que diseñen políticas adecuadas que apoyen las actividades de estas empresas. Asimismo, podría ser de interés a los académicos, investigadores, estudiantes y consultores, para ayudarles a comprender los factores determinantes que contribuyen al fracaso de estas empresas.
