Sinopsis
Este manual presenta una síntesis del papel y la evolución de la empresa y el empresario a lo largo de la historia económica. Consta de seis capítulos elaborados por profesores especializados en la materia que abordan, la historia de la empresa, tanto en la historia del pensamiento económico como a lo largo de la historia económica. En primer lugar se realiza un recorrido por la historia del pensamiento económico rastreando las ideas de la empresa y el empresario en los autores del pasado. En lo que se refiere a la historia económica, se comienza con el papel de la empresa en la época preindustrial y con las siempre controvertidas relaciones entre los empresarios y la actuación del Estado. Seguidamente se aborda la empresa en la etapa de la Revolución Industrial. A continuación se explican las nuevas formas de organización del trabajo y los cambios en la dirección de la empresa, así como el ascenso de la gran empresa y la intervención del Estado. Y, finalmente, el último capítulo se dedica a la globalización y a las transformaciones de la empresa.
