Los sistemas de información geográfica (SIG) ofrecen hoy en día una eficiente tecnología, no solo para comunicar datos de manera directa, sino también para comprender la realidad y resolver problemas concretos de manejo de territorio. Cuando los profesionales en el campo de las ciencias ambientales hacen uso de los SIG, desarrollan capacidades técnicas y mejoran sus habilidades para tomar decisiones tendientes a prevenir o remediar los daños que se puedan generar en el ambiente. El documento, dirigido a estudiantes y profesionales de diversas áreas que manejen información ambiental incluye cuatro guías.
