El esfuerzo por resolver la problemática del sentido de la existencia ha sido asumido por múltiples pensadores, entre los que cabe destacar a Soren Kierkegaard, uno de los primeros filósofos que buscaba dar respuesta a su propia existencia desde una posición de reflexión subjetiva, entendida esta como posibilidad, preguntándose por su mismidad y encontrándose con una problemática que lo embargaba en lo más profundo de su ser: la angustia. Con la finalidad de acercarse al pensamiento de este filósofo, se analizan algunas de sus obras, concentrando la atención en el concepto de angustia, dado que a partir de este se considera la existencia humana como signo que debe ser interpretado para encontrar su sentido y de esta manera poder comprender el papel de la angustia en el proceso de realización del individuo.
