Sinopsis
El presente libro tiene como preocupación central el conocimiento del papel de la educación en el mercado de trabajo y, más específicamente, de las relaciones que establecen entre la educación, particularmente de nivel universitario, y el empleo. Como marco general a partir del cual se desarrolla la investigación, y para explicar la relación entre la educación y el empleo, la autora se basa en la Teoría de la construcción social del mercado de trabajo, la cual establece que esta relación no es ni mecánica ni lineal, y que en ella participan de manera activa mediaciones diversas que la definen. En la parte empírica del estudio, la autora basa su análisis en una muestra no representativa de profesionistas egresados de la UNAM, de las carreras de administración y física, para tratar de responder cuáles y porque son exitosos, en terminos del logro laboral en el último empleo, en un contexto como el mexicano, en el que parecen volver a cobrar vigencia postulados que confieren un enorme peso explicativo a la escolaridad frente a los problemas del desempleo y el subempleo.
