Un ejemplo particular de los estudios en literatura novohispana es esta segunda entrega de la colección Memoria, literatura y discurso. Este estudio contribuye a revelar, mediante la interpretación de distintas voces de viajeros, la importancia que cobró el registro de lo visto y descubierto en su trayecto, y en un segundo momento, la transmisión de estos escritos a través de distintas ediciones que saciaban la curiosidad de los lectores acerca del Nuevo Mundo. Reitera igualmente el lugar privilegiado del relato de viaje en el periodo de las conquistas en territorio americano, las estrategias discursivas de sus autores y sus destinatarios explícitos e implícitos, lo que da cuenta del trasfondo político de este tipo de discurso, pero también su valor literario.
